Playing silently after resuming in BeyondPod

The Presto Sound Library provides a Service so that any application can change the speed and pitch of MP3s/Oggs, provided the developer of that application has modified it to use Presto and the end user has Presto installed. It is currently in open beta.

Playing silently after resuming in BeyondPod

Postby korey99 » Fri Jun 17, 2011 1:15 pm

[sorry for the duplicate post - your forum is being tempermental]

I've had an ongoing issue that I thought I'd check if anyone else was
having.

The only thing I use BeyondPod for a playing a single podcast. It
uses VBR mp3s, so in order to avoid the issue with seeking in VBR mp3s
(in which resuming starts at the wrong time in the file), I use the
Presto plugin.

What I've found is that sometimes when I resume playback, the time
counts up, but there's no sound. If I kill Presto and resume
playback, no change. If I kill BeyondPod and resume, everything is
fixed.

Any thoughts? Any troubleshooting I can do?

My hunch is this has something to do with the way BeyondPod fades in at the start of a track. There's probably not much you can do as an end user that you haven't already done (contact devs, kill BeyondPod as needed). Since killing Presto doesn't affect it, I suspect the problem is in the client code, most likely the volume isn't being cached or set correctly. I'll look at this next week, since I *finally* have some unallocated time, but I don't know how long it will take to fix. There's a good chance the fix will depend on BeyondPod being updated.
